Keythorpe Hall - Our much loved yoga retreat location We fell in love with Keythorpe just walking through the Great Hall with its huge twin fireplaces and ornamented plasterwork into the Dining Room on the South side. Sunlight was flooding through the long windows on that cold December day and the glorious Leicestershire countryside spread out below as far as the eye could see, no other houses in sight.
Of course we could only afford it because it was too big and lacking things like plumbing, heating, electrics, boiler, roof, drains and one wing was falling down. All untouched since it was requisitioned in 1939 until we found it in 1978.
We spent the first three years running away from the mess, only sleeping there late Sunday to Thursday.
Slowly this lovely Georgian house woke up to its new life, much cherished, cossetted and adorned. Now twenty five years later and still flourishing, it gives its own warm welcome to all who come here.
